The City of Aberdeen approved a plan for Stahl Sheaffer Engineering to determine the “useful life” of Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, home of the Aberdeen IronBirds, a farm team for the Baltimore Orioles. The team says every home game has sold out since the stadium opened in 2002. Stahl Sheaffer will perform a facility condition analysis to establish and evaluate the stadium's current condition, estimate remaining useful life of equipment, and provide a benchmark for comparing the facility condition and necessary investment for future years along with creating a long-term capital expenditure matrix. Precis Engineering will join the team to provide evaluation of MEP components. Stahl Sheaffer has conducted similar condition assessments and maintenance evaluations at Penn State's Beaver Stadium, Beard Field Softball Park, and Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, home of Penn State’s baseball team and the minor league State College Spikes.
