Stahl Sheaffer Engineering strives to exceed our clients’ expectations with a focus on continuous improvement and a culture of putting people first.Stahl Sheaffer Engineering (Stahl Sheaffer) is a multi-discipline civil/structural engineering firm that has been providing engineering services since 2006. The firm has grown steadily from a two-person company in 2006 to a firm that employs 100+ people across nine locations in three states. Stahl Sheaffer has a strong commitment to supporting the communities in which we operate, the non-profit organizations that benefit those communities, and the associations that drive professional development and innovation in our industry.
Stahl Sheaffer provides a full range of multi-discipline civil engineering services including building structural design, bridge design and inspection, construction inspection, geotechnical engineering, land development, survey and reality capture, and transportation engineering. We are constantly updating our technologies to support our services, including a survey-grade LiDAR system and a mid-sized Matrice 200 Series drone. We provide engineering services for multiple markets including state agencies and municipalities, higher education, energy, and private development including healthcare, hotel, recreational, residential, and senior living facilities. Stahl Sheaffer is licensed to operate in 23 states, with professional engineers licensed to operate in nearly every state in the US. Stahl Sheaffer was ranked as a top ENR Mid-Atlantic Top Design Firm since 2018, and has been selected as one of Pennsylvania Business Central's Top 100 Organizations for 2023 and 2024. |

Mr. Rod Stahl, P.E. | Principal, Land Development & Construction Inspection
Mr. Stahl, P.E. graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in PA and NY. He leads efforts related to municipal engineering, construction management, and civil/site engineering. Mr. Stahl previously worked in Baltimore, MD; Irvine, CA; and Harrisburg, PA as a Project Engineer and Designer on a variety of construction projects. He gained experience in bridge design, highway design, and construction management and served as a Township Engineer where he was responsible for the design and administration of numerous municipal capital projects and annual maintenance projects. He is active in the American Public Works Association (APWA), American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), and various chamber, community, and youth organizations. Mr. Jeffery Sheaffer, P.E., CBSI, NCTI | Principal, Structural Engineering
Mr. Sheaffer, P.E., CBSI, NCTI graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in PA, NY, WV, OH, MD, TN, MS, VA, VT, ME, KY, MA, AL, NH, IN, and CT. He is responsible for the design of bridge, highway, trail, and building structure projects as well as bridge and sign inspections. Mr. Sheaffer has extensive experience in load factor and LRFD design and DOT plan development, bridge condition inspection, and bridge and highway construction inspection. As a Principal and Project Manager, he performs technical design, inspections, directing staff engineers and technicians, client contact/coordination, and managing project progress. He is active in the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) and various industry organizations and chambers. |

PA Business Central Top 100 Organizations - 2024
Stahl Sheaffer Engineering was named a Top 100 Organization for 2024 by the Pennsylvania Business Central publication. Organizations chosen for this list have made a significant impact on Central PA communities and we are honored to be nominated and selected. Each year, the publication's editorial board contacts executives, chamber of commerce, community leaders, and readers in the area to identify dynamic nominees. The Top 100 Organization edition is the most popular and widely-read publication for PA Business Central, which is distributed to 23 counties and over 40,000 readers. This is Stahl Sheaffer's third year (second year consecutively) receiving this recognition.
Engineering News Record Mid Atlantic Top Design Firm - 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 Stahl Sheaffer earned a ranking for seventh consecutive years on the Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) Mid Atlantic Top Design Firms list. According to co-founder and principal, Jeff Sheaffer, “Stahl Sheaffer’s ongoing success is due to employees’ commitments to timeliness and quality, and to loyal clients who value the relationships that evolve as a result.” Co-founder and principal, Rod Stahl, who started the first office in his Centre County home, wrote down two primary goals which he still carries on the back of his first business card: “Hire good people. Work for good clients.” The firm’s growth rate, along with the ENR ranking, provide solid evidence of the success of this mission. |
Engineering News Record Top 500 Design Firm - 2018, 2019 Stahl Sheaffer Engineering made the list of Engineering News Record’s (ENR) National Top 500 Design Firms list. Founded in 2006, the firm has grown to over 100 people in multiple disciplines across three states. Higher education, public transportation, municipal, private development, and energy markets continue to figure prominently in Stahl Sheaffer’s success. Principals Rod Stahl, Jeff Sheaffer, and Aaron Fayish express their “sincere thanks and appreciation to our clients for the trust they have placed in our firm and staff, which has enabled us to reach this milestone for the second year in a row.”
