Sparks Building Façade Rehabilitation

Stahl Sheaffer was selected as the structural engineer by Penn State’s Office of the Physical Plant to design rehabilitation methods for deteriorated limestone and masonry exterior. The three story, 108,000-SF structure is comprised of a brick and limestone masonry exterior with copper and terra cotta cornice located along the entire perimeter of the roof gutter line. Stahl Sheaffer’s responsibilities were to perform an onsite field investigation; design rehabilitation and restoration methods for each of the exterior building materials; submit Uniform Construction Code Level Determination forms, prepare construction documents; and administer the construction contract as needed. Stahl Sheaffer also addressed water infiltration.
