Stahl Sheaffer Engineering conducted a Traffic Impact Study and provided the site engineering and land development plans for the new Applied Research Lab project for The Pennsylvania State University. Specific tasks included a site feasibility study, survey, lot consolidation plan, engineering design, final site plans, and construction administration. The engineering design and final site plans included stormwater collection and conveyance facilities that allowed for no additional volume of stormwater to leave the site. Stahl Sheaffer added 550 linear feet of new 8" sewer main in coordination with the University Area Joint Authority. The sewer main extension was necessary to accept flow from the new lateral for the ARL development and provided availability for potential future connections from adjacent undeveloped properties. The sewer design included five new manholes and was designed in accordance with UAJA and DEP requirements. The office building is LEED-certified Silver, but was designed to meet the criteria for the Gold Standards.
