Stahl Sheaffer Engineering worked with the architect to complete a feasibility study for the repair/replacement of selected existing exterior concrete stairs on the Lock Haven University North Campus. The study was conducted to inspect the condition of the stairs and connecting walkways and identify possible repair and/or replacement options.
The stair and walkway systems that were part of this study included the following:
Stahl Sheaffer performed visual condition inspections for each stair and walkway system to determine the extent of concrete deterioration, settlement, undermining, and railing anchor deterioration. During the inspections, the location and condition of existing exterior lighting fixtures and existing "cut through" paths were also identified. Based upon the observed conditions of the stair and walkway facilities at the Lock Haven Campus, three possible recommendations were formulated to address the deficiencies. Stahl Sheaffer also completed design and provided inspection during construction.
