Stahl Sheaffer is currently providing wetland monitoring services for the restoration of a 0.5-acre forested wetland located in Trumbull County, Ohio.
The Army Corp of Engineers (ACOE) required restoration due to impacts associated with timber harvesting activities related to natural gas development. The site has been planted with over 400 sapling stage trees consisting of four different wetland adapted species.
Stahl Sheaffer is performing wetland monitoring over a five-year period to document the progress of wetland plant growth and survivorship of the planted trees. Tasks completed during monitoring activities include hydrophytic plant identification and sampling within a 10m quadrat, photographic history, and a tree inventory and health evaluation of each planted tree. The data collected at the site is compiled into a wetland monitoring report and submitted to the Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District office. Additional responsibilities include verifying proper seeding and mulching during restoration activities.
