Five Center City Parking Garage
City of Allentown, Lehigh County, PAStahl Sheaffer provided structural engineering for this 10-story total precast concrete garage. The parking structure is part of a $250 million improvement of downtown Allentown comprised of a parking garage, apartments, and a mixed-use tower. Stahl Sheaffer performed structural design and analysis of the precast elements of the parking structure, including precast t-beams, solid and perforated light wall panels, precast columns, and miscellaneous precast elements such as connections.
The garage was designed independent of the surrounding six-story apartment structure; however, coordination between the two projects was paramount to ensure alignment between adjacent levels at the building interfaces were accurate.
