Environmental Scientist

Stahl Sheaffer Engineering is currently seeking a goal oriented skilled professional to join its Environmental Group.  This is a permanent position to be based out of either State College or Clearfield, PA but will support all regions.  The selected candidate will join the Environmental Group in supporting all environmental tasks for engineering projects including land development, oil and gas well development, recreation, and transportation. The selected candidate will work directly with experienced field staff as well as independently in completing field assignment and reports.  

The ideal candidate would possess:

• B.S. or Associate Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Wildlife or related fields.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience that includes the following skill areas and basic requirements:

1. ​Wetland delineation and report writing.
2. Waters and wetland impact permitting (PA) (OH, WV a plus).
3. Natural resource assessments.
4. Ability to complete field work in various field conditions and terrain.
5. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
6. Ability to take direction and carry out assigned task with minimal supervision.
7. Proficient in basic pc computer skills including Microsoft Office programs. GIS experience a plus.
8. Candidate must possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
9. A valid driver’s license and daily access to a motor vehicle is necessary.

• ​Additional experience in the following areas will be considered in the selection:​

1. ​Erosion and Sediment Control design and NPDES permitting.
2. Threatened and endangered species surveys.
3. NEPA documentation.
4. Phase I ESA.
5. CADD drafting capabilities.
