Survey CAD Technician II
Stahl Sheaffer Engineering is currently seeking a 3D Scanning CAD Technician with two to five years of experience.

- Perform quality checks on field notes and data files submitted by scanning crews.
- Post processing (Registration) of the 3D laser scan data.
- Modeling from the point cloud.
- Perform point cloud analysis.
- Prepare base mapping, exhibits, and drawings as needed.
- Prepare Existing Conditions and As-Built Drawings as required.
- Create reports and presentations as needed.
- Continually learn new techniques and processes to become more efficient.
- Work in the field as part of a 3D scanning crew as needed.
- Work with other disciplines as needed.
- A high school diploma, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive office experience in 3D Scanning, laser scan capture, post processing, analysis, and modeling.
- Comprehensive knowledge of laser scanning fundamentals, surveying principles, laser scan and surveying equipment and its operations.
- Familiarity with Faro laser scan equipment and software.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent computer and technical skills, including point cloud registration, Scene, ReCap, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Micro Station, and MS Office Suite. Realworks and Revit is a plus.
- Proven work history, strong work ethic and team-player attitude.
- Must be able to work effectively with other technical professionals.
- Ability to write legibly and convey technical information as well as the ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of co-workers, clients and the general public.
- Effective oral and written communication skills .
- Valid drivers license in good standing.
- The ability to obtain background clearances to permit working on-site for certain clients.
- Associate Degree or higher in a survey program or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience in the role of Crew Chief, Survey Technician, or Instrument Operator.
- Computer skills with ARC GIS and Topcon Magnet Software.
- Familiarity with ‘Field to Finish’ concept of coded field data to automated drafting in survey mapping .
- Occasionally required to lift and carry 50 pounds or less.
- Occasionally required to stand for long periods of time and/or walk long distances.
- Must have the physical ability to withstand the demands of an occasional day in the field.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time in front of a computer.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
