Stahl Sheaffer provided structural design services to the architect for an aquatic center and outdoor activity area featuring a dedicated toddler play area, exciting slides for bigger kids, and a 55-gallon dump bucket. The main structure includes a one-story building encompassing a party room, storage, restrooms and utilities to serve the outdoor water play area. The building frame was constructed of architecturally exposed tubes and wood trusses with parts of the structure exposed at the exterior of the building to seamlessly meld the inside and outside areas. Stahl Sheaffer also provided foundation designs for the exterior elements including pavilion canopies surrounding the splash pads. The buildings are designed architecturally to convey the importance of this facility to the community. Lateral resistance for the buildings is provided by masonry shear walls. Building foundations are shallow spread footings bearing below frost depth.
