Stahl Sheaffer Engineering is currently providing professional engineering and survey services in support of the whitewater recreation initiative proposed for the West Branch of the Susquehanna River in Curwensville. The project, led by Clearly Ahead Development, includes the proposed removal of the Pee Wee’s Nest low-head dam at Irvin Park in Curwensville, and the development of engineered in-stream recreational features designed to enhance river access, public recreation, and aquatic habitat connectivity. Stahl Sheaffer’s scope includes bathymetric and topographic surveying, site environmental review, hydraulic engineering support, and coordination with project partners and regulatory agencies to document existing conditions, support the preliminary and detailed design process, and obtain the required permits for the project.

This ongoing effort demonstrates Stahl Sheaffer’s familiarity with local waterways, recreational infrastructure planning, and the coordination required for grant-funded projects involving multiple public stakeholders. The experience gained through this work positions our team to effectively assist the Curwensville Lake Authority with future engineering assignments related to park facilities, recreational infrastructure, water resources, and other improvements within the Curwensville Lake recreation area.
