Stahl Sheaffer provided traffic signal upgrade design for the Swatara Township Green Light – Go program to upgrade the traffic control signals and systems at the intersection of Harrisburg St. (SR 0441) / Orchard Drive (SR 3006) / Chambers Hill Road (SR 3006). This intersection is heavily traveled, and signal upgrades were needed to alleviate safety concerns for vehicles and pedestrians, decrease emergency response times, and reduce maintenance. Upgrades included protected left turn phasing, vehicle detection systems, emergency vehicle preemption, pedestrian facilities, and new system controls. An addition for cleaning a nearby inlet was also added to the project scope.
