Transportation Project Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team and also independently in evaluating and applying transportation engineering principles, standards, and criteria

  • Utilize various transportation design software/tools

  • Assist with proposal development

  • May interact directly with clients at project meetings and ensure that all client project designs meet and exceed engineering standards

  • Provide support to roadway and municipal project managers on aspects of transportation engineering

  • May build and maintain relationships with key transportation engineering clients

  • Prepare technical reports and papers for clients and/or internal distribution

  • Represent Stahl Sheaffer at conferences and professional societies

  • Mentor junior engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in Civil Engineering

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Pennsylvania and/or West Virginia

  • A valid driver’s license and daily access to a motor vehicle

  • The ability to obtain state and federal background clearances to permit working on-site when necessary

  • Minimum four years of experience with transportation and/or traffic engineering projects relating to the public and private sectors

  • Experience in PennDOT, WVDOT, ODOT, PA Turnpike, and/or Ohio Turnpike projects preferred

  • Proficient working knowledge of Microstation, Open Roads, and Autoturn

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with co-workers, clients, and the general public
