Transportation Designer
Responsibilities
Assist the Project Team in the development and design of road and highway projects which consist of the plans, specifications, and estimates
Develop feasible design alternatives and compare significant parameters
Review design details and coordinate technical recommendations
Assess the cost‐effective constructability of the project and generally evaluate the quality of the project
Provide day‐to‐day technical support, guidance, and input
Assist in the preparation or modification of reports, studies, permits, and designs for various projects
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
A valid driver’s license and daily access to a motor vehicle
The ability to obtain state and federal background clearances to permit working on-site when necessary
Up to 5 years of experience with engineering projects relating to transportation and/or traffic engineering designs and development of bid packages for project advertisement into construction
Engineer-in Training (EIT)
Working knowledge of environmental and municipal regulations, drainage, stormwater management, and E&S control as they relate to design
Proficient working knowledge of Microstation, Open Roads, and AutoTURN
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with co-workers, clients, and the general public
