Transportation Designer

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Team in the development and design of road and highway projects which consist of the plans, specifications, and estimates

  • Develop feasible design alternatives and compare significant parameters

  • Review design details and coordinate technical recommendations

  • Assess the cost‐effective constructability of the project and generally evaluate the quality of the project

  • Provide day‐to‐day technical support, guidance, and input

  • Assist in the preparation or modification of reports, studies, permits, and designs for various projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering

  • A valid driver’s license and daily access to a motor vehicle

  • The ability to obtain state and federal background clearances to permit working on-site when necessary

  • Up to 5 years of experience with engineering projects relating to transportation and/or traffic engineering designs and development of bid packages for project advertisement into construction

  • Engineer-in Training (EIT)

  • Working knowledge of environmental and municipal regulations, drainage, stormwater management, and E&S control as they relate to design

  • Proficient working knowledge of Microstation, Open Roads, and AutoTURN

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with co-workers, clients, and the general public
