Survey Technician
Responsibilities
Work primarily in the field on control, boundary, topographic, DOT, construction, and pipeline/natural gas surveys.
Collect survey data as required per industry and client specifications, scopes of work, and work plans.
Drive stakes to set grades on construction projects.
Know, understand and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment.
Assist others on the survey crew.
Occasionally work with other disciplines as needed.
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
3 years of experience in the role of Survey Technician/Instrument Operator
Willingness to continually learn new techniques and processes as well as operate various types of equipment to become more efficient
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to stand for long periods of time and/or walk long distances
Ability to work overtime as needed
Ability to travel and work outside, in all types of weather
Ability to write legibly and convey technical information as well as the ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of co-workers, clients and the general public
OSHA 10, Safeland USA and CPR/First Aid or ability and willingness to acquire it
A valid driver’s license and daily access to a motor vehicle
The ability to obtain state and federal background clearances to permit working on-site when necessary
Computer skills with AutoCAD Civil 3D, ARC GIS and Topcon Magnet software
Experienced in controlling the function of surveying instruments and calculators
Associates degree or higher in a survey program or equivalent is a plus
Proficient with Topcon equipment (GPS, Robotics, Total Stations, Levels, and Data Collectors)
Ability to work effectively with other technical professionals
Strong organizational skills
