![]() State College-based engineering firm Stahl Sheaffer Engineering, LLC (Stahl Sheaffer) earned a new ranking this year on the Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) National Top 500 Design Firms list. Published annually, this list ranks the 500 largest US engineering and architecture firms based on design-specific revenue. Stahl Sheaffer, the only firm headquartered in State College, PA, is also ranked 43 in the ENR Mid-Atlantic Top Design Firms list. Stahl Sheaffer has grown steadily from a two-person company working out of a central Pennsylvania home office in 2006 to a firm that employs 165 people across 10 locations in 3 states. Stahl Sheaffer’s entry into the top 500 as #416 reflects the firm’s strong performance this past year. According to co-founder and principal, Jeff Sheaffer, “Stahl Sheaffer’s ongoing success is due to employees’ commitments to timeliness and quality, and to loyal clients who value the relationships that evolve as a result.” Co-founder and principal, Rod Stahl, who started the first office in his Centre County home, wrote down two primary goals which he still carries on the back of his first business card: “Hire good people. Work for good clients.” The firm’s growth rate, along with the ENR ranking, provide solid evidence of the success of this mission. A diverse client base has been critical to weathering economic and industry downturns. Higher education, public transportation, municipal, private development, and energy markets have figured prominently in Stahl Sheaffer’s growth. Stahl Sheaffer leaders express their “sincere thanks and appreciation to our clients for the trust they have placed in our firm and our staff that enabled us to reach this milestone.”
