WVDOH Beechurst Avenue PIE Study
West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Highways (WVDOH), Morgantown, Monongalia County, WV
Stahl Sheaffer provided services for survey, mobile LiDAR, survey control, deed research and plotting, landowner questionnaires, and right of entry. The project consisted of a Preliminary Investigation & Engineering (PIE) Study for intersection improvements and roadway widening along Route 19 (Beechurst Avenue), between the Westover Bridge and Campus Drive in Morgantown, WV.
Stahl Sheaffer performed 3D mobile LiDAR scanning and acquired survey grade high-resolution point cloud data tied to survey control. Stahl Sheaffer used specialized mapping software to extract and map all visible features of note within the project corridor. Following feature extraction, the high-resolution point cloud was used to generate a 3D digital terrain model of the ground surface for use during design.
