Stahl Sheaffer provided structural engineering and design services to the architect for the renovation of the historic Glennland Building in State College from a residential housing building to a boutique hotel. Stahl Sheaffer coordinated with the architect to develop a structural design which fit the requirements of the architectural design and met the current code requirements for new construction. Tasks included existing conditions survey, design and reinforcing for new mechanical units and loadings, lateral force resisting system evaluation, new openings in masonry walls, anchorage for two new signs to be mounted to the façade of the hotel, and coordination of discovered existing conditions during construction.

“Stahl Sheaffer did a great job working with the architect and our development team. One of my measures is how we all work together after the initial plans are drawn and finalized – especially for a project like the Glennland.

Anytime something came up, your team was there for us and was on-site when needed.  Sometimes additional new work was needed and it was addressed professionally within the context of our contract while other times, your team put in the extra effort to get us the additional information that was needed to solve problems. This is exactly what I hope for when we start projects.”
