Stahl Sheaffer Engineering performed a forensic investigation into the source of water infiltration occurring in the basement electrical room of the Steidle Building, which resulted in periodic electrical service disruption. The investigation utilized visual inspection of the building and surrounding manholes, review of existing plans and documentation available from recent construction of West Pollock Road.
Results of the investigation were presented in a feasibility study report which identified the source and provided recommendations for remediation. A recommended alternate was taken to final design, and plans and specifications were prepared for the removal of the exterior masonry stairs, placement of waterproofing, and reinstallation of the stairs, including repointing and exterior waterproofing spray.
